Undergraduate Courses

• Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
  

  B.A. is a three-year undergraduate program that covers a wide range of disciplines including History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Philosophy, and Languages.   These 5-year integrated courses allow students to earn a Master’s degree directly after high school. Offered by select universities, they are available in subjects like Development Studies, International Relations, and Sociology. These programs offer a research-intensive curriculum and are ideal for students committed to long-term academic or policy careers.

Postgraduate Courses

• Master of Arts (M.A.)
  

  M.A. is a two-year postgraduate degree focused on advanced theoretical, analytical, and research-based learning in disciplines such as English, History, Psychology, Political Science, and more. The course is designed for deeper academic exploration and professional training in writing, policy-making, education, or research. M.A. often includes seminars, dissertations, and fieldwork.

• M.Phil. in Humanities
  

  A pre-doctoral research program lasting 1–2 years, M.Phil. is focused on independent research under supervision, typically leading to a Ph.D. It involves coursework and submission of a research thesis. M.Phil. is being phased out in some universities following NEP 2020 but still exists in a few.

Admission Process

• UG (B.A./B.A. Hons): Admissions are usually merit-based, though some top universities like DU, JNU, and BHU conduct entrance exams or follow CUET-UG.

• PG (M.A.): Admission may be direct or through exams like CUET-PG, or institute-specific tests/interviews.

• Ph.D.: Requires a valid NET/JRF qualification or institutional entrance exam followed by an interview and research proposal review.
